Homemade Vegan Bagels

Hi guys, hope you guys are enjoying a happy and safe carnival! Today I have a recipe I posted some time ago on my YouTube channel (please don’t forget to subscribe 😉 ).

Bagels are one of my favourite things to eat, they are so yummy and easy to make. Plus, all the ingredients on this recipe, you probably have it at home. These bagels are the perfect companions for my Vegan cream cheese recipe. So I hope you enjoy it and give it a try.

INGREDIENTS

1 ¼ cup of warm water

1 ½ tablespoon of regular sugar

1 pack of dry yeast

3 ½ cup of flour

1 ½ teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of baking soda

Poppy seeds (optional)

PREPARATION

Add sugar to warm water. Stir well to dissolve completely. Then add 1 pack of yeast, stir and set aside for a few minutes (6-7 minutes).

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix everything well. Pour yeast mixture into the flour and stir. Don’t worry; it won’t be smooth just yet.

Transfer to clean surface and knead for 7 or 8 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Form into a ball and let it rest for at least 1 hour.

Cut the dough into 8 even pieces and form into balls. Place them on a baking sheet and let them rest for 10 minutes.

Take each one of the  balls and start shaping them like a bagel, use your finger to create the hole in the middle.

Put a large pot of water to boil and pre-heat oven to medium-high heat.  Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the boiling water (stir the water at this point, otherwise it will overflow when you add the baking soda).

Take one of the bagels and gently drop it into water. Boil each one for 40 seconds on one side, then flip and cook for another 40 seconds.  Place bagels on baking sheet and bake for approximately 15 minutes. Around 5 minutes before they are done, brush them with water and add poppy seeds (optional). Return to oven for 5 more minutes.

Oh, one more thing. 🙂 I opened a new YouTube channel as a motivational speaker, please feel free to check it out and subscribe! Thank you in advance.
